Foreign Minister Holds Bilateral Talks with Indian Counterpart

New Delhi, Jan. 30, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohy-Eddin Salim met today in New Delhi with Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for bilateral talks aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.The Foreign Minister briefed his Indian counterpart on recent developments in Sudan, highlighting the significant progress made by the Sudanese Armed Forces on the ground. He also presented the Government of Hope’s Peace Initiative, submitted by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris to the United Nations, as a roadmap addressing the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and ending the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia aggression.Ambassador Salim expressed Sudan’s pride in its historic relations with India, praising India’s supportive stance and ongoing coordination in international forums. He underscored Sudan’s desire to further develop relations to benefit both peoples, noting that the country’s upcoming reconstruction phase presents significant opportunities for a comprehensive economic partnership. He called for activating existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, particularly the Consultation and Coordination Committee between the two foreign ministries, as platforms to strengthen and expand collaboration across various fields.Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for Sudan’s sovereignty and unity, highlighting his country’s readiness to continue humanitarian, cultural, and other support. He stressed the importance of resuming bilateral cooperation mechanisms and the role of political consultation committees in enhancing bilateral relations. He also expressed hope that ongoing efforts would achieve sustainable peace and stability in Sudan.It is noted that Ambassador Salim arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, to participate in the second session of the Arab–India Ministerial Meeting, hosted by India in coordination with the League of Arab States.
