Health Delegation Inspects Internationally Funded Hospital Projects in Northern State

Dongola, Feb. 1, 2026 (SUNA) – A Ministry of Health delegation, led by Director General of Curative Medicine Directorate, Dr. Haidar Mohamed Abdal-Nabi, alongside a World Health Organization (WHO) delegation, has concluded a two-day field visit to Northern State to review jointly implemented health projects supported by the World Bank and the African Development Bank, notably the SHIFT Project and the AfDB-funded programme.The delegation inspected operations at Dongola Specialized Hospital, with a focus on the SHIFT Project, and held a meeting with the State Ministry of Health attended by Director General Sati Hassan Sati, during which a comprehensive performance and challenges report was reviewed. Dr. Abdal-Nabi said the hospital development plan addresses existing gaps and applies quality standards to position the facility as a model hospital.The visit also included Karima Hospital, a key beneficiary under the African Development Bank project, and Al-Dabba Hospital. Dr. Abdal-Nabi noted that these initiatives represent vital future support for the state’s health sector.In a statement to SUNA, he commended Northern State’s role in delivering health services to citizens and displaced persons (IDPs), and reaffirmed the continuation of federal and international support to Northern State and all Sudanese states.AS/BH
