TSC Member Jabir Praises Improvements in Education and Electricity in Khartoum

Khartoum, 9 Feb 2026 (SUNA) – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, commended the notable progress of the committees for Education Reform and Electricity Sector Rehabilitation in Khartoum State, reporting that 85% of public schools have reopened.Speaking at the 31st committee meeting on Monday, attended by TSC Member Dr. Nuwara Abu Mohamed Tahir, the Khartoum Education Support Committee head, several ministers, the Khartoum Wali, and subcommittee members, Jabir praised efforts to increase educational achievements and secure funding for the maintenance of 150 schools under the first-phase plan. He also urged government companies to allocate corporate social responsibility funds for school rehabilitation.Jabir additionally lauded the electricity sector’s staff and companies for their efforts amid existing challenges, calling for continued work to ensure stable power supply for residents and productive sectors, and stressing the activation of regional grid agreements. Committee members highlighted the need to eliminate illegal electricity connections.The Governor of Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) Amina Mirghani described education as a national emergency sector, instructing banks to finance its stable funding plan for curriculum updates, school rehabilitation, and teacher training, and confirmed the banking sector’s commitment to maintaining 14 schools in Khartoum State.BH/BH
