Sudan’s Embassy in London Hosts “Sudan Reconstruction” Forum with International Participation and Economic Experts

London, Feb. 10, 2026 (SUNA) — The Sudanese Embassy in the United Kingdom on Tuesday convened an economic forum on Sudan’s reconstruction, organized in partnership with the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation and the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, as part of the embassy’s celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of Sudan’s independence.The forum was hosted at the Institute of Directors (IoD) in London and aimed to develop an economic roadmap for the post-war stage and strengthen strategic partnerships between Sudan’s private sector and international investors.Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim addressed the forum virtually, outlining the government’s recovery priorities and the economic policy framework for the coming phase, as well as a range of incentives offered to foreign investors. He affirmed that the timing is now favorable for foreign investment, stating that early entrants will be best positioned for success. He added that the British private sector has clear advantages in financing, technology, and corporate governance that Sudan can leverage.Mr. Muawiya Al-Bereir presented the private sector’s vision for the reconstruction process, underscoring that Sudanese private enterprises have demonstrated considerable resilience and the capacity to overcome the country’s crisis.Sudan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Babiker Al-Siddig Mohamed Al-Amin, also addressed the gathering, reviewing priority investment sectors and opportunities in Sudan within the broader reconstruction framework.*Specialized Panel Sessions:* The programme included three main panel discussions featuring leading business figures and experts.*Current Economic Landscape:* The first session examined prevailing economic conditions, with participation from private sector leaders and specialists including Chairman of CTC Group, Ahmed Abdel Latif; industry experts, Amal Wagdi Mirghani and Hassan Satti; and oil and mining experts, Dr. Omar Badawi Abu Al-Bashar. The session was moderated by the Head of the Islamic Trade Forum, Sir Igbal Sacranie.*Policies and Institutional Empowerment:* The second session focused on banking reforms and economic infrastructure. Speakers included Eng. Abdulmajeed Al-Zein (Dolphin Telecom), economic researcher Harry Cross, Professor Mustafa Nawari, adviser at the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation, and policy adviser Mohamed Al-Tayib. *Capital Mobilization:* The forum concluded with a session on investment structures, with contributions from, Mustafa Al-Hassan (GCCI), Eng.
