Geneva, March 02 (QNA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) said a hospital in the Iranian capital has been evacuated following explosions reported nearby, as it seeks to verify further claims of damage to medical facilities amid ongoing hostilities.

A spokesperson for the UN health agency said patients were transferred from Gandhi Hospital in Tehran after blasts in nearby locations caused damage to the building.

The WHO added that it was working to verify reports that three other medical centers have been hit since the start of a US-Israeli air campaign against Iran that began on Saturday.

According to the organization, the facilities reportedly affected include Motahari Hospital in Tehran, emergency medical centers in Sarab in the country’s north-west, and another center in Hamadan.

The WHO maintains an office in Iran and works with the government on health emergencies and disease control. It also monitors and seeks to verify attacks on healthcare systems worldwide.

The organization did not attribute responsibility for the reported incidents. (QNA)
