Amman, March 2 (Petra) – Technical teams at the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) have thwarted a cyberattack attempt targeting the grain silo management system of the Jordan Silos and Supply General Company, according to the center’s head, Mohammad Al-Smadi.
Al-Smadi said the attempted breach, which was traced back to Iran, aimed to manipulate the storage temperatures of wheat stocks to cause damage to the strategic reserve.
NCSC’s director confirmed that the attempt was countered immediately and had no impact on the silo management system.
The national monitoring and surveillance system operates around the clock to detect any suspicious cyber activities and deal with them according to best international practices and standards, Al-Smadi added.
The NCSC had previously notified various national institutions and vital and critical sectors of the need to raise the level of cyber readiness and strengthen preventive measures.
The center has designated an emergency number (065900500) to report incidents or cyber threats.
