Amman, March 4 (Petra) – The Senate’s Energy and Mineral Resources Committee on Wednesday approved the 2026 Gas Law, a key step to enhance Jordan’s gas security, regulate the sector, and create a favorable investment climate.
The law seeks to regulate the activities of the gas and hydrogen derivatives sector, encourage infrastructure development, and promote the sector both domestically and internationally. It also defines the responsibilities of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in formulating general sector policy. It outlines the powers of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission and its Board of Commissioners in licensing and overseeing sector operations, ensuring high-quality and efficient service delivery.
