Beirut, Mar. 6 (Petra)– Israeli warplanes carried out intense airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburb early Friday, launching attacks from naval vessels positioned offshore, following unprecedented Israeli warnings ordering the evacuation of entire neighborhoods in the densely populated area.
A Lebanese security source told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) correspondent in Beirut that the strikes targeted the areas of Al-Jamous, Haret Hreik, and Souq Muawad.
The source added that Israeli artillery is heavily shelling the southern town of Khiam, while an Israeli force is advancing toward the southern outskirts of the city under heavy surveillance by reconnaissance drones.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that two civilians were killed and three others injured in an airstrike on the town of Labaaya in the Western Bekaa. The ministry also reported that four people were killed in another strike on the town of Mashghara.
