Cairo, March 10 (QNA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, in phone calls with UAE Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, discussed he repercussions of military escalation in the Middle East.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that during his call with the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Abdelatty condemned the targeting of the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan, stressing his country’s full solidarity with the UAE in the face of any threats to its diplomatic missions or its security.

During his call with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Abdelatty also expressed Cairo’s condemnation of any violations of Turkish sovereignty and airspace, stressing Egypt’s firm position of refusing to infringe on the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of countries or undermine their security and stability.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister reiterated the need to de-escalate and prevent the region’s from sliding into wider confrontations in a way that is difficult to predict, and the utmost importance of giving precedence to the diplomatic track as the only way to contain the current tension in order to preserve regional peace and security.
