Cairo, March 12 (QNA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed the repercussions of the military escalation in the region in telephone calls today with several of his counterparts.

During calls with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadephul, Abdelatty expressed his country’s complete rejection of the continued Iranian attacks on Gulf states, stressing the need to put an immediate end to these actions, which violate international law and threaten regional stability.

Egypt also welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which called for a halt to Iranian attacks, emphasizing the resolution’s explicit rejection of targeting civilians and vital infrastructure. The resolution deemed such actions a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security. Egypt further stressed the need to develop a comprehensive and new vision for regional security in cooperation with regional and international partners, reaffirming the priority of Arab national security, activating the Joint Arab Defense Agreement, and forming a joint Arab force.

In turn, the ministers affirmed that there is no alternative to a diplomatic solution to contain the escalating situation, and that the continued and expanding military escalation threatens regional and international peace and security, putting everyone at loss. (QNA)
