Beirut, March 16 (QNA) – Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun hoped that his initiative to halt the war and begin direct negotiations with Israel under international sponsorship sees progress.
In a statement on Monday, Aoun said that the Lebanese state is responsible for all its citizens regardless of their religious sects.
The Lebanese President hope for a breakthrough with regard to his initiative to put an end to this daily loss affecting all Lebanese people, in terms of land, livelihood, lives, and future, he said.
The initiative aims to save Lebanon given how futile it is to persist in this war, especially that the more time passes, the greater the destruction that befalls Lebanon, Aoun added.
The Lebanese President said that it was unthinkable that the country would once again suffer a war that it has nothing to do with.
He stressed that the Lebanese state is the only party that can protect everyone, affirming that restoring state institutions will be realized regardless of obstacles. (QNA)
