Kuwait Says It Has Uncovered Hezbollah-Linked Cell

Kuwait City, March 16 (QNA) – Kuwaiti authorities said they had uncovered and dismantled a terrorist cell linked to the banned organization Hezbollah, according to a statement from the country’s Interior Ministry.

The ministry said security services had arrested members of the group following investigations that revealed an organized plot aimed at undermining national security and destabilizing the country.

According to the statement, the group consisted of 16 people, including 14 Kuwaiti nationals and two Lebanese citizens. Officials said the suspects were allegedly involved in recruiting individuals to join the organization and attempting to spread unrest and disrupt public order.

Authorities said searches carried out with legal approval from the public prosecution uncovered a number of items, including firearms, ammunition, a weapon described as being used for assassinations, encrypted communication devices, drones, and maps. Investigators also reported finding flags and images linked to militant groups, as well as cash and drugs.

The Interior Ministry said investigations are continuing and that the suspects will be referred to the public prosecution for further legal action. (QNA)
