Tokyo, March 25 (QNA) – Tokyo stocks extended gains for the second trading day on Wednesday on expectations of eased tensions in the Middle East following reports that the US and Iran are making diplomatic efforts to end the war.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 1,497.34 points, or 2.87% from Tuesday, at 53,749.62.
The broader Topix index finished 91.32 points, or 2.57%, higher at 3,650.99.
On the top-tier Prime Market, the main gainers were insurance, nonferrous metal and glass and ceramics product issues. (QNA)
