Sudan Launches Strategic Digital Transformation Projects Led by Finance and Digital Transformation Ministries

Khartoum, March 27, 2026 (SUNA) – State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Adviser Mohamed Nour Al-Da’im, announced that the ministry is working in close partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications to implement a package of strategic projects aimed at digitizing government services and enhancing public spending efficiency. He stated that the embassy network connectivity project is a key outcome of this partnership, implemented in coordination with the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs through the technical arms of the Digital Transformation Ministry.“We have launched the initial phase with the Sudanese Consulate in Jeddah and the Embassy of Sudan in Cairo as pilot models, with gradual expansion planned to cover all missions,” the State Minister said.He explained that the project seeks to accelerate financial and administrative processes for embassies and consulates, reduce reliance on cash transactions and their associated operational and security risks, and provide real-time financial and administrative reporting for decision-makers. It also aims to facilitate faster and more streamlined access to consular services for Sudanese citizens abroad. The State Minister affirmed that the initiative forms part of a broader government drive to adopt digital transformation in support of fiscal reform. The Ministry of Finance, he noted, is working to enhance transparency in public financial flows through unified electronic payment and collection systems, reduce operational costs, minimize losses associated with cash handling, and establish real-time databases to track revenues and expenditures and generate accurate periodic reports. He added that joint technical committees will, in the coming weeks, evaluate the pilot experience in Jeddah and Cairo and finalize technical and training requirements for diplomatic staff ahead of rolling out the system across all Sudanese missions abroad.IK/BH
