Juba, March 30 (QNA) – At least 73 people were killed and 25 others wounded in an attack by unidentified gunmen on a gold mine in South Sudan.
Local authorities said that unidentified gunmen attacked the Khor Kaltan mining area, located about 70 kilometers southwest of the capital, Juba, killing at least 73 local miners and seriously injuring 25 others.
They added that an official investigation is underway to determine the identity and motives of the attackers.
It is worth noting that the Khor Kaltan mining area has been the target of repeated attacks in the past. Following a series of deadly attacks, the South Sudanese government suspended mining operations in 2021, but they resumed in April 2025. (QNA)
