Cairo, April 01 (QNA) – Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, held phone calls on Tuesday with several Arab counterparts to discuss ways to contain the dangerous escalation in the Middle East.
The calls included Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates; Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister; and Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Foreign Minister.
The discussions focused on ongoing efforts to prevent a wider deterioration of the situation in the region, stressing the importance of maintaining and intensifying joint coordination to contain the current crisis and prevent further escalation. The talks also addressed the outcomes of a recent four-party ministerial meeting held in Islamabad, Pakistan, where participants exchanged views on building on those results and continuing regional and international efforts to halt the war, de-escalate tensions, advance diplomatic solutions, and prioritize dialogue as the only path to avoiding widespread regional instability.
In this context, Egypt’s foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s condemnation of continued Iranian attacks targeting Gulf states and Jordan, stressing the need for an immediate halt to the unacceptable assaults that constitute a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, as well as an infringement on state sovereignty and national resources.
