Khartoum, April 2, 2026 (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has received a written message from Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa concerning the advancement and elevation of bilateral relations between the two countries in a manner that serves the shared interests of their peoples.The message was delivered during a meeting held on Thursday at the TSC President’s office with the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Sudan, Emmanuel Gumbo.In a press statement, Ambassador Gumbo expressed his profound satisfaction with the return of the Sudanese government to operate from the capital, Khartoum, describing it as the seat of authority. He commended the efforts of the Sudanese Armed Forces and other regular forces in making this return possible.He noted that discussions with the TSC President addressed the longstanding bilateral relations between Sudan and Zimbabwe and avenues for enhancing and developing them, underscoring the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations.The ambassador added that the message conveys Zimbabwe’s solidarity—both government and people—with Sudan during this critical juncture. He further indicated that the two countries are working toward lifting visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.Ambassador Gumbo also highlighted the significant potential for mutually beneficial exchange between Sudan and Zimbabwe across various sectors, pointing out that Zimbabwe has abundant production of tea and coffee that could be exported to Sudan, alongside other products. He added that Sudan, in turn, possesses economic resources that Zimbabwe could import and benefit from, thereby strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.BH/BH
