New York,April 02 (QNA) – The UN Security Council issued a unanimous presidential statement reaffirming its strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
The statement, issued at the conclusion of a high-level meeting on UN-GCC cooperation, the first of its kind, highlighted collaboration on shared challenges, including maritime security, counterterrorism, and food and water security.
The Council praised the GCC’s role in regional stability through mediation, preventive diplomacy, technical and financial support, and humanitarian engagement, while encouraging strengthened institutional cooperation with the UN.
It also emphasized the importance of enhancing strategic coordination, including full participation of women and youth in peace and security initiatives, in line with UN resolutions 1325 (2000) and 2250 (2015). (QNA)
