Khartoum, April 6, 2026 (SUNA) – Refugee Commissioner Nizar Al-Tijani met UNHCR Representative Marie-Hélène Verney to discuss resuming refugee registration, protection mechanisms, and alternative financing amid declining international funding. Sudan currently hosts nearly 900,000 refugees, including protracted caseloads in the east. Both sides reaffirmed partnership and commitment to sustaining protection efforts despite challenging conditions.BH/BH
