Doha, April 07 (QNA) – Al Rayyan will face Qatar SC on Wednesday, while Al Wakrah will play Al Ahli in the quarterfinals of the 47th edition of HH the Amir Volleyball Cup championship for men.
All matches of the tournament will be held at the Ladies Sports Hall in Aspire Zone, which is hosting the final stages of the competition from April 8-15.
The quarterfinals will continue on Thursday, with Al Shorta taking on Al Sadd, and Al Arabi facing Al Gharafa.
Eight teams are competing at this stage, including the top four finishers in the league championship namely, Al Arabi (champions), Al Wakrah (runners-up), Al Shorta (third place), and Al Rayyan (fourth place), in addition to the teams that advanced through the playoffs, Qatar SC, Al Sadd, Al Ahli, and Al Gharafa.
The tournament follows a single-elimination format, which heightens excitement and technical pressure, as each match is effectively a final, requiring the highest levels of focus and both mental and physical readiness from all teams.
Al Rayyan are the defending champions, having defeated Al Wakrah in last year’s final by three sets to one (25–17, 25–20, 25–27, 25–22). (QNA)
