Amman, April 8 (Petra) – Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday welcomed the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
According to Vatican News, the Pope made his remarks at the conclusion of his weekly general audience in St. Peter’s Square. He said that after hours of heightened tension in the Middle East and globally, he welcomed the declaration of an immediate truce with “relief and hope.”
The Pope said that lasting peace can only be achieved by returning to the negotiating table, expressing hope that “the desire for dialogue will become a means of resolving other conflicts around the world.”
