Khartoum, April 8, 2026 (SUNA) – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Dr. Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris, described the workshop as important, noting that hides represent a valuable resource that remains largely underutilized. Speaking in the workshop on reducing wastage of sacrificial hides, organized by the ministry in cooperation with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Thursday, he stated that the ministry has developed a strategic plan to modernize the sector through improved production and processing, stressing the importance of avoiding raw exports in favor of value-added manufacturing. The undersecretary highlighted the need for stronger coordination among relevant institutions—particularly the Ministry of Industry and Trade—to transform the sector into a key economic driver contributing to national economic recovery. He also pledged to ensure the implementation of all recommendations and outcomes of the workshop to advance the hides sector in Sudan.BH/BH
