Amman, April 9 (Petra) — Jordan’s Hussein Asheesh and Ziad Asheesh will compete for gold medals on Friday in the Asian Elite Boxing Championship finals, currently being held in Mongolia.
Hussein Asheesh advanced to the under-80 kg final after defeating Tajikistan’s Nikroz Salimov in the semifinals on Tuesday, securing his third victory in the tournament. He will face Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Erkinboyev in the final.
Ziad Asheesh reached the under-70 kg final after advancing past Japan’s Sewon Okazawa, who did not compete in their scheduled bout. He had earlier recorded wins in the round of 16 and quarterfinal stages.
Ziad will meet Kazakhstan’s Turakhan Sabirkhan in the final.
In the same championship, Jordan’s Hudhaifa Asheesh won a bronze medal in the under-50 kg category after losing in the semifinals to India’s Vishwanath Suresh.
