Washington, April 12 (QNA) – US President Donald Trump announced that the United States Navy will begin enforcing a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, targeting all vessels attempting to enter or exit the vital maritime corridor.
“Effective immediately, the United States Navy will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social.
He added that he had also ordered US naval forces to identify and intercept any vessel in international waters that had paid fees to Iran in exchange for passage through the strait. “Any ship that has paid these illegal fees will not be allowed safe passage in open waters,” he stated.
Commenting on reported diplomatic contacts, Trump said talks with Iran held in Pakistan were “good,” but noted that Tehran had not changed its position on its nuclear program, leaving the issue unresolved.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that Islamabad would continue facilitating communication and dialogue between Iran and the United States in the coming days. (QNA)
