Doha, April 15 (QNA) – Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has highlighted the vital role of families in promoting environmental values, as the country marked Qatar Family Day 2026.
In a statement issued on the occasion, the ministry said the family plays a central role in shaping environmentally responsible behavior, describing it as the first “school” where children learn the principles of sustainability and the importance of preserving natural resources.
It stressed that building an environmentally conscious society begins at home, where individuals develop their awareness and attitudes, making family empowerment a key pillar in achieving sustainable development goals.
To mark the occasion, the ministry illuminated its main headquarters in green, symbolizing sustainability, growth and environmental responsibility.
Officials said the color green reflects values the ministry seeks to promote through its programs and initiatives, as part of broader efforts to strengthen community awareness and foster a more cohesive and sustainable society.
The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to launching awareness campaigns and initiatives targeting all segments of society, with a particular emphasis on engaging families in environmental protection efforts.
It added that celebrating Qatar Family Day forms part of wider national efforts to promote social cohesion and raise a generation that is conscious, responsible and capable of safeguarding the country’s natural resources and achievements. (QNA)
