Finance Minister Affirms Government’s Commitment to Strengthening Cooperation with Algeria

Khartoum, April 15, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim affirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with the Republic of Algeria and advancing it to broader horizons, building on the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries. He also commended Algeria’s distinguished positions in support of Sudan. During his meeting on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum with Ambassador Abdel-Hafiz Al-Awad Sayid Ahmed, who has been appointed Sudan’s ambassador to Algeria, the minister provided guidance and directives aimed at developing economic and financial cooperation. He highlighted the possibility of establishing a maritime route linking the two countries to activate trade exchange in a manner that serves their mutual economic interests, and stressed the importance of maximizing the benefits of Sudan’s promising potential in productive sectors to build partnerships that benefit the entire region. The meeting also explored opportunities to benefit from Algeria’s capabilities in the gas and oil sectors, as well as from its expertise in training Sudanese cadres in these fields.BH/BH
