Petra, April 16 (Petra) – Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) held its board meeting in Petra, chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Imad Hijazeen.
Attended by board members and the Chairman of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, this meeting underscores the national interest in “strategic” tourist sites, mainly Petra.
In its statement, the Tourism Ministry said the discussions went over the importance of Petra as a “global” tourist destination, urging the Kingdom’s tourism sector, in all its components, to unite in supporting and enhancing the Rose City’s position, mainly amid the current challenges.
The event also noted importance of concerted public and private efforts to sustain and stimulate tourism activity.
During the meeting, the JTB board reviewed the latest developments related to the “Welcome to Jordan” platform and its projected role in the coming phase in supporting tourist promotion and attracting visitors.
The board said this effort would contribute to reviving the sector and strengthen its presence on the regional and global tourism map.
