Damascus, April 16 (QNA) – Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday welcomed the ongoing and final handover of military sites previously occupied by US forces to the government in Damascus.
In a statement, the ministry said the restoration of state control over areas that had been outside its authority, including northeastern regions and border areas, reflects sustained efforts to unify the country under a single state framework. It added that completing the handover of these sites demonstrates the success of efforts to integrate local forces into state institutions.
The ministry also stated that the US decision to end its military presence reflects changing circumstances that had initially justified it, particularly in light of the diminished threat posed by ISIS, stressing Syria’s ability to continue combating terrorism and addressing security challenges.
Earlier, the United States announced the completion of the withdrawal of the last coalition convoys from Qasrak base in northeastern Syria and its handover to Syrian forces. (QNA)
