Damascus, April 19 (QNA) – Governor of the Central Bank of Syria Abdul Qader Husriya announced on Sunday that an agreement had been reached with the World Bank to provide the Central Bank with specialized technical assistance.
In its statement, the Central Bank of Syria said that this technical assistance aims to develop its management of reserves and gold, as part of enhancing institutional efficiency and improving asset and reserve management.
The agreement followed a meeting with a World Bank delegation chaired by Director of the Advisory and Partnership Department of the World Bank Group Treasury Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska, the Central Bank added.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance the banking sector’s capabilities and promote joint cooperation and came in light of current developments, particularly the lifting of sanctions and the opportunities this unfold.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria commented that this step marks the beginning of a reform path that would enhance financial stability and support efforts to rebuild the Syrian economy. (QNA)
