Amman, April 20 (Petra) — The Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Monday held a technical workshop to discuss mechanisms for implementing the information technology roadmap in the water sector, with support from the U.S. Embassy in Amman and participation from relevant institutions, sector partners, and water sector staff.

Secretary-General of the Water Authority, Sufyan Bataineh, said the workshop is part of ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation, enhance institutional efficiency, and improve service quality for citizens, he noted that digital transformation is no longer a supporting function but a key driver of sector performance.

Bataineh added that the information technology roadmap aligns with the National Water Strategy (2023–2040) and the Economic Modernization Vision, which are based on national frameworks for digital transformation and cybersecurity. He said the sector is now moving from assessment and planning to implementation.

Discussions focused on aligning visions and defining roles and responsibilities among stakeholders, setting implementation priorities, and developing practical digital projects to strengthen governance and system integration.

The workshop also served as a platform for knowledge exchange and institutional coordination, supporting optimal use of technical resources and alignment with international best practices.
