Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim arrived in Geneva, leading Sudan’s delegation participating in the 79th World Health Assembly, scheduled to take place from May 18 to 23. He was received at Geneva International Airport by Ambassador Hassan Hamid, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sudan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva. The Minister is expected to deliver Sudan’s official statement before the Assembly, highlighting the severe damage inflicted on the country’s health system due to the systematic targeting of health facilities and institutions by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, and the resulting major challenges in providing essential healthcare services to citizens. He is also scheduled to participate in several ministerial meetings and side events, in addition to holding a series of bilateral meetings with counterpart ministers and heads of participating delegations, as well as with leaders of relevant international organizations, including a planned meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization.BH/BH
