Khartoum, May 17, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih chaired a meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Social Security Investment Authority, which reviewed the report of the committee tasked with assessing the authority’s assets and investments. The meeting discussed a number of issues related to financial sustainability, investment performance efficiency, policy development, governance, and risk management. During the meeting, the Minister affirmed that the primary objective of the investment authority is to safeguard and grow pensioners’ funds in a secure and sustainable manner, ensuring the fulfillment of current and future obligations while strengthening confidence in the social security system. He stressed the importance of adopting a modern investment vision based on diversifying investment portfolios, increasing liquidity levels, and improving real returns, alongside building strategic partnerships that contribute to supporting the national economy and enhancing the fund’s financial sustainability amid current economic challenges. The Minister also commended the efforts of the evaluation committee and expressed hope that the meeting’s outcomes would support institutional reform efforts and strengthen the efficient management of social security funds in line with best professional, financial, and actuarial practices.BH/BH
