Khartoum, May 18, 2026 (SUNA) – The Civil Aviation Authority announced that Qatar Airways is preparing to launch regular flights to Port Sudan Airport starting in July 2026, in a move reflecting positive signs of the gradual recovery of Sudan’s aviation sector. The authority said the return of one of the world’s leading airlines to Sudan sends an important message of confidence in the future of the country’s aviation industry and will strengthen air connectivity between Sudan and international destinations through Qatar Airways’ global network. It added that the move is expected to support passenger travel, stimulate the economy, tourism, and business sectors, and expand and diversify travel services through Port Sudan Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority further described the development as a new sign of hope for Sudan’s aviation sector and evidence of accelerating efforts to restore normal operations across the country’s airspace and airports.BH/BH
