Red Sea State Wali Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour praised the efforts of Saudi Ambassador to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, and affirmed the depth of relations between Sudan and Saudi Arabia during a farewell ceremony marking the end of the ambassador’s tenure. Speaking at the event held Tuesday evening in Port Sudan, the wali said the ceremony reflected the strength of the longstanding brotherly ties between the two countries. He noted that the ambassador had left a clear impact through overseeing the implementation of Saudi leadership directives supporting Sudan, particularly during the ongoing war. The wali said Saudi support included humanitarian aid convoys, medical equipment for health facilities, and projects in the health and water sectors, highlighting the recent inauguration of a prosthetics center in Port Sudan as part of Saudi-backed humanitarian and development efforts. For his part, Foreign Ministry representative Ambassador Onour Ahmed described the event as reflecting the spirit of public diplomacy that strengthens ties between peoples, praising Ambassador Jaafar’s role in advancing Sudanese-Saudi relations during his posting. He added that Saudi Arabia has become a strategic partner for Sudan, bound by deep historical and geographic ties. Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Jaafar said Sudan would always remain close to his heart, praising the Sudanese people and stressing that the end of his assignment would not end his connection with the country. Speakers at the ceremony said the ambassador was being honored for his role in strengthening ties between the Sudanese and Saudi peoples and for supporting those affected by the war, while also commending the humanitarian role played by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Foreign Ministry, diplomats accredited to Sudan, senior military, intelligence, and police officials, as well as community and media figures.BH/BH
