Cairo, May 25 (QNA) – The League of Arab States expressed regret over the failure of the 11th Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to adopt a consensus final document, marking the third consecutive such outcome.
In a statement, Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the failure reflects a lack of political will among some states to fulfill their disarmament commitments, warning that it undermines the credibility of the global non-proliferation regime.
He stressed the need for renewed international efforts to strengthen the treaty and reiterated support for establishing a Middle East free of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, while calling for universal adherence to the NPT. (QNA)
