AD-DAMAR, June 4, 2026 (SUNA) – Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Environmental Protection and Promotion in Nile River State Hawa Mohamed met on Thursday in her office with representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Iman Juma Ismail, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination between the two sides. The meeting discussed a number of issues of mutual concern, particularly programs and projects related to the environment, recovery, and peacebuilding, in addition to opportunities for cooperation in implementing initiatives that support local communities and enhance environmental and social stability in the state. Hawa Mohamed underscored the importance of partnership with international organizations operating in humanitarian and development fields, noting the significant role such partnerships can play in supporting environmental protection efforts and achieving sustainable development. She also pointed to preparations for celebrating World Environment Day, which falls on June 5 each year. For her part, Iman Juma affirmed the International Organization for Migration’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Higher Council for Environmental Protection and Promotion in Nile River State and to work jointly in implementing programs and projects serving environmental and community recovery issues. The meeting also discussed arrangements for organizing a comprehensive conference to address environmental issues related to society and encourage and strengthen the role of community and development initiatives, in addition to exploring ways of joint cooperation and coordination to ensure the success of the conference and achievement of its objectives in serving the community effectively. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation in a manner that contributes to achieving shared objectives and serving environmental and development issues in the state.BH/BH
