The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, expressed great satisfaction following his inspection visit to the Port Sudan Teaching Hospital, specifically reviewing the progress at the newly established Emergency and Trauma Center. The Minister praised the massive mobilization of effort and organizational arrangements implemented to prepare the center, noting that construction works are nearing completion with only final finishing touches remaining. In press statements on Monday, Dr. Ibrahim stated: “Alongside the Minister of Health, we will work collaboratively to complete the trajectory initiated by the Wali.” He pointed out that this facility will not only serve as a premium medical center for the Red Sea State but is designed to function as a national reference center for emergency medicine across all of Sudan, in addition to operating as an advanced training hub for young medical professionals seeking specialization in emergency medicine. The Finance Minister described these infrastructural developments as “promising indicators driven by the leadership of the Red Sea Wali,” affirming the Ministry of Finance’s strict commitment to backing and financing vital public health projects that deliver tangible community benefits. He lauded the integration of official state efforts with popular, community-driven initiatives that made the establishment of this medical landmark possible. For his part, the Wali of the Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, expressed his appreciation for the Finance Minister’s visit to evaluate the trauma center’s operational readiness. The Wali commended the multi-stakeholder partnership that founded the center, highlighting key support provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Federal Ministry of Health, the Sea Ports Corporation, and the Customs Directorate, alongside substantial grassroots contributions from citizens and the State Ministry of Health. Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour emphasized that the center represents a highly sophisticated model that will catalyze a qualitative leap in regional medical services, projecting it to be one of the largest specialized trauma and emergency facilities in Sudan, accessible to citizens nationwide.
