Khartoum, June 22, 2026 (SUNA) — The ministerial sector technical committees of the Cabinet, in a joint meeting held on Monday, chaired by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Ahmed Salah Ahmed Awad, approved the Draft Miscellaneous Amendments Bill for the year 2026, in preparation for its submission to the Council of Ministers for final approval. The meeting underscored the necessity of enforcing laws in a manner that consolidates state authority, particularly in relation to crimes involving the smuggling of precious minerals—most notably gold—as well as other goods that undermine the national economy.It further stressed the importance of providing legal protection for regular forces engaged in anti-smuggling operations, affirming the need to safeguard their mandates while carrying out enforcement duties. The session further underscored the importance of activating legislation governing information technology and media publication through various platforms, particularly content that negatively affects the state, undermines its sovereignty, or harms social cohesion.The meeting also affirmed the importance of protecting and safeguarding human life.BH/BH
