Khartoum Health Ministry and EMERGENCY Discuss Support for Cardiac Services and Healthcare Sustainability

Khartoum, June 23, 2026 (SUNA) — The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State and EMERGENCY NGO Italy discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation to support cardiac services and ensure the sustainability of healthcare delivery, during a meeting held on Monday and chaired by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badri, Director-General and acting Minister of Health.  The meeting reviewed the services provided by the Cardiac Hospital and its role in delivering healthcare to citizens. Dr. Al-Badri praised the hospital’s significant performance during the war period, noting that its continued service delivery reflects a strong professional and humanitarian commitment worthy of recognition. He reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary support to strengthen partnership with the organisation and further develop health services, contributing to improved quality of care for patients. The meeting was attended by Maram Osman Adam, Director of Partnerships and Organisations at the Ministry of Health. EMERGENCY NGO Italy was represented by Dr. Simone Assiosano, Country Director, Dr. Manahil Badr, Head of Nursing, and Ihab Ibrahim, Liaison Director. Dr. Manahil Badr noted that the Cardiac Hospital continued providing services throughout the war and receives patients from across Sudan, as well as from neighbouring countries, making it a key regional referral centre for cardiology and cardiac surgery. Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination in the coming period to ensure the sustainability and expansion of healthcare services for citizens.BH/BH
