Khartoum, July 1, 2026 (SUNA) — Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reviewed the performance of the Ministry of Energy and the services it provides in the fields of electricity and petroleum supply. This came during a meeting in Khartoum with Minister of Energy Eng. Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim, who said in a press statement that the discussions focused on the need to secure petroleum products, ensure their regular availability, and facilitate their flow at appropriate prices. He added that the meeting also addressed the ministry’s efforts to improve the import, distribution, and storage of petroleum derivatives. The Energy Minister noted that the Garri power station, which contributed to increased electricity supply in the recent period, will be followed by additional stations, including Garri (2) and Garri (3). He added that the Om Dabakir power plant has been rehabilitated and equipped with a third generator, with a fourth unit also repaired and expected to enter service. Eng. Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim further pointed to significant improvements in water supply from the Seteit Dam, which he said will positively impact electricity generation and supply. He also stated that all financial requirements have been fulfilled to import additional transformers from abroad. The Minister urged citizens to refrain from illegal electricity usage, known as “jabbadat,” warning that it negatively affects transformers and the stability of the power supply.BH/BH
