Health Minister Arrives in Washington to Participate in Sudan Health Sector Reconstruction Conference

 Washington, July 8, 2026 (SUNA) – Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, will participate on Thursday in a conference in Washington, D.C., to discuss ways to rehabilitate and rebuild Sudan’s health sector and restore medical services across the country.During the conference, the minister is expected to present the extent of the systematic destruction inflicted on the health sector by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.On the sidelines of the visit, the minister will hold meetings with several humanitarian organizations and agencies supporting the health sector to build partnerships and strengthen cooperation aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services in Sudan.Dr. Ibrahim arrived in Washington on Tuesday and was received by Sudan’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Abdalla Idris, members of the embassy, and Dr. Sarah Issa, a member of the Board of the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA).The visit comes at the invitation of the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA), a humanitarian and scientific organization dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare and supporting the rehabilitation and development of Sudan’s conflict-affected health system through health programs and medical services in many war-affected areas across the country.BH/BH
