Mogadishu, July 11 (QNA) – The Somali authorities said on Saturday that they had foiled an attack that two militants of the Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militant group were preparing to carry out in the Hawo Tako neighborhood in Beledweyne, central Somalia.
The authorities added that their forces took out one of the militants and apprehended the other alive during the security operation, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to thwart plots that the group is planning to execute.
For over a decade, Somali government forces have been battling the Al Shabaab group, with the latter launching numerous attacks that have killed hundreds of civilians and security personnel.
The group has also repeatedly targeted government facilities and hotels in Mogadishu. (QNA)
