Washington, July 15 (QNA) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, who is visiting the United States, discussed developments in the Middle East and efforts to end escalation and restore calm in the region.
Safadi emphasized the importance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran and reaching a comprehensive solution to the crisis that addresses the causes of the conflict, guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, and supports lasting security and stability.
Both sides condemned Iranian attacks on Jordan and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
They also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and efforts to ensure the implementation of all aspects of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
Safadi stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution. (QNA)
