Minister of Industry Meets Libyan Counterpart on Sidelines of Arab Industrial Development Organization General Assembly

Tripoli, July 16, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasin Ali Yaqoub, met on Wednesday with Libya’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mohamed Abdel-Gadir, on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development Organization.  The meeting was attended by delegations from both countries, Sudan’s Ambassador to Libya, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, and Deputy Head of Mission Ambassador Essam Idris. Minister Mahasin expressed Sudan’s pride in its longstanding relations with Libya, reaffirming the country’s commitment to strengthening industrial and trade cooperation between the two brotherly nations in a manner that serves their mutual interests. For his part, the Libyan minister welcomed his Sudanese counterpart and expressed Libya’s pride in hosting the major Arab gathering, which brings together Arab countries to advance industrial integration. He said the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to translate the two countries’ shared aspirations into practical partnerships in the industrial, mining, and intra-Arab trade sectors. Minister Mahasin also congratulated her Libyan counterpart on the successful General Assembly and Libya’s hosting of the regional event, expressing Sudan’s commitment to using such meetings to strengthen bilateral relations, activate existing memoranda of understanding, and expand the exchange of technical expertise in support of the two countries’ shared economic and industrial interests. The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, coordinate positions within the framework of joint Arab action, support the Arab Industrial Development Organization, and improve the investment climate in both countries.BH/BH
