Khartoum, July 16, 2026 (SUNA) – Sudan’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif, met on Thursday with a delegation from the Higher Committee of Representatives of Zamzam Camp Victims, headed by the committee’s chairman, Hassan Saber Juma, and attended by its members The minister welcomed the delegation, describing the violations and crimes committed at Zamzam Camp as a full-fledged humanitarian tragedy in which human dignity and fundamental rights were subjected to systematic abuses. He said the government possesses information and documentation relating to violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.”We have legal avenues through both the national and international judicial systems,” Dr. Dirif said, pledging to provide the necessary legal support for complaints submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which he said has jurisdiction to prosecute individuals. For his part, committee chairman Hassan Saber Juma said the delegation came to the Ministry of Justice on behalf of thousands of innocent victims who had suffered some of the worst violations at Zamzam Camp. He described the events as a humanitarian tragedy and said justice for the victims would demonstrate the rule of law. Juma called for those responsible for the crimes to be held accountable and prevented from escaping justice. He also urged the organization of human rights training workshops, the provision of volunteer lawyers, and the establishment of official channels to address the Zamzam Camp case. Concluding the meeting, the Justice Minister reaffirmed the principle that there should be no impunity for perpetrators and stressed the importance of organizing human rights training workshops and providing psychological support for victims. He also reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to provide legal assistance to victims seeking to file private criminal complaints before the National Committee for the Investigation of Crimes and Violations Committed by the Rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Militia.BH/BH
