Geneva, July 16, 2026 (SUNA) – Sudan participated in the 68th Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva from July 7 to 15, 2026. The Sudanese delegation included Dr. Adel Shamseldin Mohamed Yousif, Legal Adviser at the Ministry of Justice, and Huda Saleh Abu Bakr Othman, Legal Adviser at the Intellectual Property Office. The delegation took part in discussions on agenda items covering the development of intellectual property systems, the promotion of international cooperation, and national capacity building. The delegation also held bilateral meetings with WIPO officials to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation with Sudan and benefit from the organization’s programs and expertise in supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts, developing intellectual property institutions, advancing digital transformation, and building the capacity of national personnel. The discussions also emphasized the importance of leveraging intellectual property to promote innovation, protect national products and traditional knowledge, and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in line with Sudan’s national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).BH/BH
