Baghdad, July 17 (QNA) – Global coalition forces intercepted and destroyed several explosive-laden drones over Erbil in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region on Friday. No casualties were reported.
In a statement, the Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Service said the drones were brought down by air defense systems operated by the US-led global coalition.
Residents reported hearing four explosions in different parts of Erbil early Friday morning and seeing smoke rising from the interception sites. They also reported limited material damage.
The incident comes amid renewed regional tensions following the military escalation between the United States and Iran. (QNA)
