Beirut, July 18 (QNA) – A Lebanese military personnel was killed, while an officer and another personnel were wounded Saturday when a suspicious object exploded aboard an army vehicle in the town of Mansouri, in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the Lebanese military said the blast occurred while the servicemen were in the town, adding that the competent authorities are continuing their investigation to adduce evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, Israeli offensives in southern Lebanon continued.
Israeli fighter jets carried out an aerial offensive against the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district, while an Israeli drone conducted another strike targeting the town of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
Lebanon and Israel recently signed a US-brokered framework agreement providing for security arrangements, the redeployment of the Lebanese military to the south, and the reconstruction of the affected areas.
In addition, the deal contemplates the revitalization of the Lebanese economy, the establishment of direct deconfliction channels between the two sides, and the adoption of confidence-building measures ahead of a lasting peace. (QNA)
