Cairo, July 21 (QNA) – The Arab League has confirmed that it fully stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting everything that would compromise its security, stability, and sovereignty.

This came following the recent remarks made by the Houthi group’s military spokesperson, which included false accusations and threats directed at the Kingdom.

In a statement on Tuesday, Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy considered these accusations and threats as an unacceptable grave escalation that would foment tension in the region and vitiate the ongoing de-escalation efforts.

He stressed that the move would undermine security and stability as well, calling on the Houthi group to stop unleashing escalatory rhetoric and any actions or remarks that would exacerbate tensions.

Prioritizing the language of diplomacy and adherence to regional and global efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement for the Yemeni crisis, Fahmy said, is the only off-ramp to achieve security and stability in Yemen and the region.

He stressed that the security of Saudi Arabia and its territorial integrity are part and parcel of the Arab national security system.

In this context, the Secretary-General reaffirmed the League’s support for all lawful actions Saudi Arabia takes to safeguard its national security and territorial integrity in alignment with the provisions of international law and the UN Charter. (QNA)
