Tripoli, July 27 (QNA) – Several areas of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, witnessed protests and the closure of roads and public institutions early Monday amid repeated power outages coinciding with an intense heatwave.
Protesters set fire to vehicle tires, erected roadblocks at intersections, and placed barriers in front of the headquarters of several public institutions and facilities.
The demonstrators called for improvements to electricity services and urgent solutions to the ongoing crises involving water shortages, fuel shortages, and the lack of cash liquidity.
The protests come as Libya continues to experience a severe heatwave that has persisted for several days, causing widespread power outages across much of the country. In some areas, electricity cuts have lasted for more than 14 hours, either continuously or in separate intervals. (QNA)
